Training a raptor (bird of prey) takes place in 3 steps.
Raptor can be trained as young bird but also as adults, it is a matter of patience.

Step 1 - Manning
During this period the raptor will get used to man and related objects (pets, cars...)
The goals are for the raptor to eat from your glove, or accepting to do walk while on the glove fearlessly.
During that time the raptor will be fed at will to find out his full weight, flying weight (weight at which the bird is motivated to feed thus do exercise and respond to the austringer), and hunting weight (bring the bird down to that weight for hunting). You usually bring your raptor down to flying weight for training.
Your bird need to be weighted daily.

This step can take between a week to several months. When the bird is confortable it is said to be well-manned.

Step 2 - Jumps up/ Glove calls
During this period the bird is trained to jump from a perch to the austringer's gauntlet.
To train the raptor operant conditioning is often used. (kind of clicker training, but you can whistle, or click ones tongue or use a word instead of a clicker).
Going to the gauntlet should be mastered in various ways and in various location (inside room, on open field...).
At first the raptor will be leashed to a long line and wait on the perch for the call, be sure to master it perfectly before letting the bird in free flight and ask for jumps up.
You will start at 30cm from the bird and widen the distance up to 30 meters. First attracting the bird with a tidbits, if it doesn't come, reduce its daily food until it jumps to the glove (not going under its hunting weight).
Several other games can be done for training you can find some there > www.themodernapprentice.com/ga…
Well-trained raptor can easily do 100 jumps up in 20 minutes. (in Steve Layman philosophy.)

Step 3 - Hunting
During this period the bird will be trained to hunt.
For that purpoise you can first use bait (like a dead rabbit with fur, ears, tail etc) attached to a long line, the bird should have instinct to go after it and even rip it in piece.
If it doesn't, bring it to its hunting weight.
You can do the same while moving the bait along the line (have someone pull it).
It can be perfectionned in various ways (ex: using a horse to pull the bait at higher speed). Get the bird used to the bells and telemetry at this point.
You can do mock hunt with bait the dogs will hunt for the bird to attack.

Then your raptor is ready for real hunt.
You will bring it down to its hunting weight and feed it half a ration the night before so it is hungry enough the next morning.
During the hunts, if the bird doesn't manage to kill the prey, the austringer will kill it (dogs can help but it can be dangerous for the raptor to be caught in the dogs legs).
It is common to split the prey open so the bird can have a taste (you can open the head to let it feed on the brain).

Note that barbarian eagle in particular won't have much trouble with dogs which can help on the killing.

But all in all it is supposed to work with any raptor so it is a simple how to with the main points.
